Great Marketing Strategy By Nissan

Nissan North America, I think, has hit one out of the park with this one. The article I will link to below from MediaPost, describes Nissan North America's efforts to 'sponsor' a whole city. It's akin to how Coke & Pepsi have long worked to establish relationships with higher education institutions so that only their products are carried there. I like this strategy because it really gives them an opportunity to focus on innovative ways to integrate the Nissan brand into the culture and daily life of the city. It might be tough for, say, a Subaru brand loyalist that comes into town, but I think if they did it right, it could really create a soft spot for the Nissan brand for many people.
